World Cup Finals Day
Lots of rain overnight made all the riders a little more edgy
on finals day, the ruts got deeper and the turns got more blown
out. Gee was the man of the day, winning qualifying and finals.
It was one of the most exciting races for ages, all the Brits
were going nuts to beat Sam Hill. He was slightly slower at the
split but he pulled Sam in down the lower section of the course.
Sam crossed the line ad looked pretty pleased with his run so
it was good to see G-Unit stick one on him.

Seems like lots of the other riders in the World Cup are stepping
up to Sam’s pace and actually beating him now. Athertons
won 3 out of 4 races this weekend, Mens 4X, Womens DH and Mens
DH. Gee skipped the 4X to concentrate on the DH so that worked
out well for him this weekend.

Kovarik occupied the hot seat for about 10 riders only to be knocked
out of it by a charging Sam Blenkinsop who claimed his first world
cup podium.
Young Canadian talent Steve Smith took 10th place in only his
4th World Cup so that was a really good weekend from him.
Frenchman Fabien Pedemanaud also cracked the top ten with a storming
8th place. In form Camellini had a disappointing weekend crashing
in both qualifying and finals.

Danny Hart took the junior race and pulled the biggest whip off
one of the top jumps, nice one Danny.
Bike Radars Marc Beaumont didn’t race the finals because
of his injury from Maribor is still plagueing him and giving him
some pain.
Dave Wardell broke his collarbone, in his qualifying run, still
that didn’t wipe the smile off the Whitby locals face as
he had a beer in the medics tent!
